I cannot help but be passionate about the natural world that surrounds us, a complex web that interconnects us to it and every living thing. I believe deeply that for the sake of community and ourselves this connectedness is vital to our well being, and it is essential that we engage with it more deeply and enthusiastically. I first completed the CA Naturalist certification through the Stewards of the Coast and Redwoods in 2014 (the Sonoma County ecosystem); in 2023 I was able to take the course through the Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History (the joys of the Monterey Bay environs). I am Thrilled to live in a small town with a great natural history museum. I also really, really like to express myself, so, hey, blogging from time to time.

An early California naturalist, John Muir, once said, “When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the universe.”
